Welcome to Plant&Leaf and our range of family grown plants. The first and second photo serves as a representative display, showcasing the beauty of a mature plant. The third photo provides a sample of a single plant from the current batch available. Please note the Pot size displayed on the heading of each product.
All of our plants are grown outdoors in nature and are exposed to the natural elements. Sometimes this means a leaf could have been chewed here and there or have a blemish or two – but we do our best to send the best plants we can on every order.
Growing lucky bamboo is pretty simple, and it’s a great way to bring some good vibes into your home! Here’s how you can do it:
1. Choose the Right Environment:
- Light: Lucky bamboo thrives in bright, indirect sunlight. Direct sunlight can scorch the leaves.
- Temperature: It prefers temperatures between 18°C - 35°C, so avoid placing it in areas with extreme heat or cold.
2. Watering:
- Water: Use distilled or purified water (or tap water if you leave it out for 24 hours to let chlorine evaporate). Keep the water level in the vase or container just above the roots.
- Change the water: Change the water once a week to keep it clean and to prevent bacteria growth.
3. Soil (if planting in soil):
- Lucky bamboo can also grow in soil, but it's typically grown in water. If you're using soil, make sure it’s well-draining. Water it lightly, keeping the soil slightly moist, not soaking wet.
4. Fertilising:
- Use a liquid houseplant fertiliser diluted to about 1/4 strength once a month. Over-fertilising can harm the plant, so less is more.
5. Pruning and Shaping:
- Lucky bamboo can be shaped into spirals, curves, or other patterns by twisting the stems as they grow. Be careful not to snap or damage the stems while shaping.
- Trim any yellow or dead leaves to keep the plant looking fresh.
6. Potting:
- You can grow lucky bamboo in a decorative vase or container filled with water. Make sure the container is large enough for the bamboo to grow and that the roots are submerged in water.
7. Signs of Trouble:
- Yellowing leaves might indicate overexposure to sunlight or poor water quality. If the leaves turn yellow or brown, check the water and adjust its quality or placement.
- Brown tips can also mean that the water is too salty or the plant needs more humidity.
With some care and attention, your lucky bamboo should thrive and grow happily in your space!
