    Product Details

For the assorted selection, I pick a random un labelled caladiums that are looking good at the time of packing.

The photo on this listing is just a cover photo. The plants in 45mm Pots are small plants that will generally have juvenile colouration.

Caladiums are beautiful tropical plants known for their vibrant, colorful foliage. To keep them thriving, follow these care tips:

    1. Light

    • Bright, Indirect Light: Caladiums prefer bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight can scorch their leaves. A spot with filtered light or partial shade works well.

    2. Watering

    • Consistent Moisture: Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Allow the top few centimeters of soil to dry out before watering again. During the growing season (spring and summer), they need more frequent watering. In the dormant season (Autumn and winter), reduce watering in warm climates.

    3. Soil

    • Well-Draining Mix: Use a well-draining potting mix. A mix designed for tropical plants or a blend of peat, pine bark, and perlite works well.

    4. Temperature and Humidity

    • Warm Temperatures: Caladiums thrive in warm temperatures between 21-29°C. They are not frost-tolerant, so avoid temperatures below 60°F (15°C).
    • High Humidity: They prefer high humidity. If your home is dry, consider placing a humidifier nearby or placing the plant on a humidity tray.

    5. Fertilising

    • Balanced Fertiliser: Feed caladiums with a balanced, slow release fertiliser and give liquid feed often to encourage nice large leaves.

    6. Pruning and Maintenance

    • Remove Dead Leaves: Regularly remove any dead or yellowing leaves to keep the plant looking its best.
    • Dormancy Care: Caladiums usually go dormant in winter. Reduce watering and allow the foliage to die back naturally. In cooler climates, you may need to dig up the tubers and store them in a cool, dry place until spring.

    7. Pest and Disease Control

    • Watch for Pests: Keep an eye out for common pests like aphids, spider mites, and scale. Treat infestations promptly with insecticidal soap or neem oil.
    • Prevent Diseases: Ensure good air circulation around the plant to prevent fungal diseases. Avoid overhead watering, which can encourage fungal growth.

By following these guidelines, you can enjoy your caladiums' stunning foliage and keep them healthy year-round!
