Product Details

Welcome to Plant&Leaf and our range of family grown plants. The first photo serves as a representative display, showcasing the beauty of a mature plant. The second photo provides a sample of a single plant from the current batch available. Please note the Pot size displayed on the heading of each product.

All of our plants are grown outdoors in nature and are exposed to the natural elements. Sometimes this means a leaf could have been chewed here and there or have a blemish or two – but we do our best to send the best plants we can on every order.

Biophytum sensitivum (often called little tree plant or miniature sensitive plant) is surprisingly easy once you match its preferred warm conditions.

Here’s how to grow it well:

🌱 Light

  • Bright, indirect light is ideal
  • Can handle gentle morning sun, but avoid harsh afternoon sun (will scorch leaves)
  • Too little light → leggy, weak growth

💧 Water

  • Keep consistently moist, not soggy
  • Do not let it dry out completely — it hates drought
  • Use well-draining soil to avoid rot
  • In warm conditions, you may water every 2–4 days

👉 Think: rainforest understory moisture, not swamp

🌡️ Temperature & Humidity

  • Loves warm temps (18–30°C)
  • Needs high humidity (60%+)
  • Struggles in dry air — great for:
    • Terrariums
    • Greenhouses
    • Indoor humidity setups

🌿 Soil

  • Light, airy, well-draining mix:
    • 50% potting mix
    • 25% perlite
    • 25% coco peat or fine bark

Good drainage is critical—it likes moisture but not stagnant roots.

🌼 Fertiliser

  • Light feeder
  • Use diluted liquid fertiliser every 2–3 weeks in growing season
  • Avoid overfeeding → can burn easily

✂️ Growth Habit

  • Grows like a small palm/tree from a central stem
  • Can get leggy over time — rotate plant for even growth
  • Doesn’t branch much naturally

This guy can be sensitive to shipping and drop some leaf segments however they do bounce back once they settle in.
