Welcome to Plant&Leaf and our range of family grown plants. The first photo serves as a representative display, showcasing the beauty of a mature plant. The second photo provides a sample of a single plant from the current batch available. Please note the Pot size displayed on the heading of each product.

All of our plants are grown outdoors in nature and are exposed to the natural elements. Sometimes this means a leaf could have been chewed here and there or have a blemish or two – but we do our best to send the best plants we can on every order.

Croton plants are known for their vibrant, multicolored foliage, making them popular choices for adding a splash of color to indoor and outdoor spaces. Here's how to keep croton plants thriving:

  1. Light: Crotons prefer bright, indirect light. Place them near a window where they can receive plenty of sunlight, but avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves. Insufficient light can cause croton leaves to lose their color and vibrancy.

  2. Temperature: Crotons prefer warm temperatures between 15°C to 29°C. They are sensitive to cold drafts, so keep them away from doors, windows, and air conditioning vents during the winter months.

  3. Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water your croton when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch. During the growing season (spring and summer), you may need to water more frequently, while in the winter, you can reduce watering frequency. Avoid allowing the soil to dry out completely, as this can lead to leaf drop.

  4. Humidity: Crotons prefer high humidity levels. If the air in your home is dry, you can increase humidity by misting the leaves regularly, placing a humidifier nearby, or placing the pot on a tray filled with pebbles and water. Grouping plants together can also help create a humid microclimate.

  5. Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix rich in organic matter. A mix formulated for tropical plants or a blend of peat moss, perlite, and compost works well. Ensure the pot has drainage holes to prevent waterlogging.

  6. Fertilization: Feed your croton with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer diluted to half strength every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Avoid fertilizing during the winter months when growth slows down.

  7. Pruning: Crotons can become leggy over time. Prune them regularly to maintain a compact shape and encourage bushier growth. Remove any dead, damaged, or yellowing leaves to improve the plant's appearance and health.

  8. Repotting: Repot your croton as needed, typically every 1-2 years or when it outgrows its current container. Choose a pot that is slightly larger than the current one and refresh the soil to provide fresh nutrients.

  9. Pest Control: Keep an eye out for common houseplant pests like spider mites, aphids, and mealybugs. If you notice any signs of infestation, treat the plant with insecticidal soap or neem oil.

By providing the right growing conditions, you can keep your croton plant healthy and vibrant, adding color and beauty to your indoor or outdoor space.
