Welcome to Plant&Leaf and our range of family grown plants. The first photo serves as a representative display, showcasing the beauty of a mature plant. The second photo provides a sample of a single plant from the current batch available. Please note the Pot size displayed on the heading of each product.

All of our plants are grown outdoors in nature and are exposed to the natural elements. Sometimes this means a leaf could have been chewed here and there or have a blemish or two – but we do our best to send the best plants we can on every order.

Cyperus albostriatus, commonly known as Dwarf Papyrus or Umbrella Grass, is a clumping, grass-like plant with attractive green foliage. It enjoys warm, moist conditions and is particularly well suited to tropical and subtropical gardens.

☀️ Light
Cyperus albostriatus prefers bright, indirect light to partial shade. It can handle gentle morning sun, but protection from harsh afternoon sun is recommended, particularly in hot climates.

💧 Watering
This is a moisture-loving plant and should not be allowed to dry out completely. Keep the potting mix consistently moist, watering whenever the surface begins to dry.

Unlike many indoor plants, it can tolerate—and appreciates—consistently damp conditions as long as the water is fresh and the plant is otherwise healthy.

🌱 Potting Mix
Use a rich, moisture-retentive but well-draining mix. A quality potting mix with compost or coco peat works well.

For container growing, choose a pot that retains moisture and has drainage holes. It can also be grown with the pot sitting in a shallow amount of water.

🌡️ Temperature & Humidity
Cyperus albostriatus loves warm, humid conditions and performs particularly well in tropical and subtropical areas.

Protect from frost and prolonged cold. Growth will slow considerably during cooler weather.

🌿 Fertilising
Feed during active growth with a balanced liquid fertiliser every 4–6 weeks. Regular feeding helps maintain vigorous, green foliage.

✂️ Maintenance
Remove old, yellow or damaged stems at the base to keep the plant looking tidy. As it naturally forms a clump, older plants can become quite dense and may occasionally benefit from thinning.
