Product Details
Welcome to Plant&Leaf and our range of family grown plants. The first photo serves as a representative display, showcasing the beauty of a mature plant. The second photo provides a sample of a single plant from the current batch available. Please note the Pot size displayed on the heading of each product.
All of our plants are grown outdoors in nature and are exposed to the natural elements. Sometimes this means a leaf could have been chewed here and there or have a blemish or two – but we do our best to send the best plants we can on every order.
Rhaphidophora are pretty forgiving tropical climbers, but they really thrive when you match their natural jungle conditions—bright, humid, and something to climb.
Light
They like bright, indirect light.
- Too dark → slow growth, small leaves, no splits
- Too much direct sun → leaf burn
A spot near a bright window with filtered light is ideal.
Watering
Keep the soil lightly moist but not soggy.
- Water when the top 2–4 cm of soil dries out
- They hate sitting in water → root rot risk
- In Brisbane conditions, that’s usually 1–2× per week depending on season
Soil
Use a chunky, well-draining mix, similar to aroid blends:
- Potting mix + orchid bark + perlite
- Optional: coco chips or charcoal
Airflow around roots is key.
Humidity & Temperature
They prefer higher humidity (60%+), but tolerate average indoor levels.
- Warm temps: 18–30°C
Support (very important)
This is where most people miss out 👇
- Give it a moss pole or stake
- Climbing = bigger leaves + fenestrations
- Without support, it stays small and leggy
Feeding
During active growth (spring–summer):
- Use a balanced liquid fertiliser every 2–4 weeks
- Or slow-release pellets
Pruning
- Trim to control size or encourage bushiness
Common Issues
- Yellow leaves → overwatering
- No splits → not enough light or no support
- Leggy growth → needs more light
- Brown crispy edges → low humidity or underwatering
