All of our plants are grown outdoors in nature and are exposed to the natural elements. Sometimes this means a leaf could have been chewed here and there or have a blemish or two – but we do our best to send the best plants we can on every order.

Dwarf Schefflera (Schefflera arboricola), also known as the Dwarf Umbrella Tree, is a hardy, easy-care plant that makes an excellent indoor plant or outdoor tropical plant in warm climates. It can be grown as a compact shrub or trained into a small tree.

☀️ Light
Dwarf Schefflera prefers bright, indirect light. It can tolerate lower light, but growth may become slower and more open. Variegated varieties generally need brighter light to maintain their colouring. Outdoors, provide filtered light or gentle morning sun.

💧 Watering
Allow the top 2–5 cm of the potting mix to dry before watering again. Water thoroughly until excess water drains from the pot.

Avoid allowing the plant to sit in constantly wet soil, as this can lead to root problems.

🌱 Potting Mix
Use a rich, well-draining potting mix. A quality indoor/tropical mix combined with perlite, pumice or bark works well.

Always use a pot with drainage holes.

🌡️ Temperature & Humidity
Dwarf Schefflera enjoys warm conditions around 18–30°C and performs particularly well in warm, humid environments.

Protect it from cold temperatures, frost and cold draughts.

🌿 Fertilising
Feed during the warmer growing season with a balanced liquid fertiliser every 4–6 weeks. Reduce feeding during the cooler months when growth slows.

✂️ Pruning & Shaping
Regular pruning helps keep Dwarf Schefflera compact and bushy. Trim long or leggy stems just above a leaf node to encourage new branching.

It can also be trained into a more upright, tree-like form by removing lower branches as the plant develops.

🐛 Pests
Common pests include scale, mealybugs, aphids and spider mites. Regularly check the undersides of leaves and along stems, particularly on new growth.
